Here is another old draft that I found. I will go ahead and keep it! Luckily, things have greatly improved. They widened the bridge and traffic has flowed much better. I rarely see the bumper pile up anymore! Yeah!!!
So if anyone from Woodbridge ever sees this, you can sing "those were the days!!"
Here is the old post:
I do not understand the traffic in Woodbridge, VA. Yeah, it's worse in NYC and India. But Woodbridge, pretty darn close. And with the return of the school kids, it is even worse.
I am speaking of the intersection of 123 and Old Bridge Rd. Once, a few months back, I counted 12 or 1 3 cars blocking the intersection. Did these folks not learn in driver's ed to NEVER proceed into the intersection until it is clear. Not that it is the fault of all the drivers. 123 North has 3 left turn lanes and 2 going straight . Meanwhile Old bridge traffic that is turning onto 123 has 2 lanes. So all 4 lanes are merging into one lane, that soon turns into one lane to go over a bridge. So stupid. I just hope something can be done before someone dies at this intersection.
In honoring the principles I learned way back in driver's ed, I have been honked at. I have had someone demonstrate to me their ability to extend the middle finger of one of their hands. Another time, a Spanish lady in the lane beside me and I looked at each other and laughed and shook our heads as a big truck was blocking the entire intersection.
I don't know why the police don't seem to monitor this. I wish they would hand out tickets. Often I fear the cars will get mad at me, so I feel compelled to inch out into the intersection. I just hope they don't give the ticket on those days.
