Securing a Great Seat for Stake Conference by Singing With the Choir

I enjoy singing. Most of my personal singing is done in my car, during my 19.3 mile commute (one way). However, I am quite shy about my voice and don't have a great voice.

A few days ago, evryone on our ward email list received an email from our ward choir director in which she was soliciting people to join the stake choir, for the upcoming Stake Conference. As I contemplated going to stake conference one hour early, only to get a seat way in the back, I thought about joining the stake choir in order to get one of the comfortable padded seats. Usually I sit on a plastic seat in the back row of sacrament meeting, so I am not so concerned about comfort. However, I want a good view and am just tired of going early to stake conference only to get a bad seat.

What happens is people who have early meetings save seats for their family and friends. So it gets frustrating when you look for a seat and everything is saved. Plus in the back, it is so much noisier, as the parents of small children have to entertain their children for two hours and not the typical one hour. (When I first joined the church, they used to have a primary for kids on stake conference days, but I think this has stopped and that they want the kids to be in the meeting). Anyway, I have nothing against the kids, it is just noisier in the back.

Well, so I joined the choir! So for two practices, for a total of two hours and thirty minutes, plus one hour on the day of the conference, I've got an awesome padded seat with a perfect view of the side of the podium!

I did gain some insights into the songs we will sing. More on those later.

I do love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I do love the hymns, it is just I usually confine the singing of them to the privacy of my own home or car. I am not a public singer. My dad tells me my voice is high pitched, I am not a person with a good voice. But who cares- for a good seat, I will sing my praise in Stake Conf and have a great view!!! I just hope that in tomorrow morning's practice session, the director doesn't decide to kick me out!

Question for you... Do you happen to know where I can get choral music for my choir that are arrangements of the pieces the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings?

Is there a website that keeps track of the songs they sing?

I've only been able to find Jackman Music and Jackman Music Express that carries arrangements that they have sung. Do you know of any other sites?

Thanks,
Richard
