I want to share a great quote I heard last week. About a week ago, I was chatting with a person I know who has endured much in her life. I honestly think her load of trials and life challenges is equal to that of about three or four other people. Yet she smiles and laughs and tries her best to face her challenges.
Well then she had another life frustration- her car broke down. I happened to pass her that day and was able to give her a ride (though unfortuneately I couldn't help get her car going again :( )
So as we drove, I told her I felt badly that she now had to deal with that car problem in addition to everything else she has to face. And she told me something profound.
She shared that one of her friends had told her how we are given trials by the Lord to make us stronger, and she said how that friend once said, in response to an unwanted trial, "Lord, I think I'm strong enough!"
I really appreciate that sentiment! I do think there are some areas where I think I've demonstrated enough strength. Yet Heavenly Father works to help me become even stronger in those areas. I must remember that He knows best. Even though we think we are strong enough, He does give us challenges and experiences to help us become even stronger. While I know in my case, lots of my challenges are due to my own fault or negligence, there are other areas where challenges are not as self-induced, at least in my opinion. In my life, I do see evidence of how Heavenly Father works to make me stronger. It is like when I am feeding a patient and that patient says no more, and we try to gently encourage them to eat a litle more, all the while saying to eat more to get stronger.
I do want to be stronger, I want to be better in multiple ways. I am grateful Heavenly Father works to help me be better and stronger, even when I think I am strong enough and have been proven enough in certain areas.
