I recently I met a gentleman in nursing home land who is kind who thanks you several times for doing even small things on his behalf. His kind and polite demeanor stands out.
A few days after meeting him, I learned that during one of our nations wars, as a teenager, this man had been forced to live and work in a "forced labor camp".
Despite that experince, it is intesting and touching to me that he can be so kind. He said he likes to be optimistic. I realize my life trials are nothing compared to what he has endured. Yet observing him is an example of how I would like to be in trials: despite hard challenges, I want to be a good, kind, positive and optimistic person.
