I work in the Primary in our Church, it is for kids 1 & 1/2 years old to those who are 11. Currently, I teach the New Testament to children who are 9 years old and will turn 10 this year. I also work with the Activity Day girls. As I have said previously, this is a program designed to help girls do learning and service activities to develop their talents and knowledge and faith in God. It is sort of like the girl version of boyscouts (though some girls do participate in brownie troops & girlscouts). Even though it can be stressful at times, I enjoy these opportunities to work with the children, they are so wonderful.
Let me share a bit about one of the fun moments:
Well, last Sunday, after sacrament meeting, one of the Activity Day girls came up to me and handed me a picture of me that she had drawn. She is a real sweet girl as all are of the Activity Day girls. Anyway, this picture depicts me with a HUGE HEAD! And I mean HUGE! If my head were actually the size represented in the drawing, my head would be as big as the length between my shoulders and mid-thigh. And that would be a pretty large head! One other thing I like about the picture is the rest of my figure is much better than it is in real life, ie there are NO BULGES OF FAT!
I would post the picture but haven't yet figured out how to use the digital camera my dad gave me last year. So, no picture at this time.
It is funny, nearly two years ago, this same young girl drew me a picture of myself after I had given a talk in sacrament meeting. (In our church, they have us mere members give talks from time to time). Well in that picture, my head was a little smaller.
I just hope this young girl doesn't think I act like I act prideful or that I act like someone with a "a big head"!!! So when I see this picture on the fridge, it will remind me to be humble! :)
