Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Well this post will appear a day late. The good news is I did see my dad for his birthday which was yesterday. On his birthday card, I miscalculated his birth by one year, so when I wrote his new age on the card, I made him one year younger!! My dad just said for me to change the second digit into the correct number and that it was ok and no one would know. Except random people around the world reading this blog! To illustrate how to change the number, he shared some Hindi letters that kids often mess up on when they write and showed a quick "fix" in such situations. (My dad is a native of India). We had a nice visit though mom wasn't there, she was at her French class. And my brother was at young men's, the weekly church program for the young men age 12-18.

I could write lots of things I love about my dad. For now, I will simply share one of the favorite teachings of my dad. Growing up, whenever it was his birthday or Christmas, etc I would ask him what he wanted for his present. My dad would always say, "just love me". And I would say, "that's dumb, what do you really want?" Anyway, as I've grown older I finally realize the wisdom in that request. After all, that request is also what our Heavenly Father asks of each of us, to show Him that we love Him by how we live. I hope I can do better in this area- for both my earthly Father and my Heavenly Father.
