Today I thought I'd try to find a new dress for Church. I didn't look too hard but it is so frustrating as there is such a scarcity of modest dresses. Dresses are either too short (ie once one of our Sunday School teachers deftly stated in a humorous fashion that some skirts are shorter than lamp shades!! I loved that remark!!!). Other dresses have neck lines that are way too short. Men's shirts don't show cleavage the way women's do. Women are so much more than cleavage, and it really annoys me that so much attire makes that the focus of the article of clothing. Other problems w/dresses are being too sheer or having too short of a sleeve. Another challenge for me is my height. At 5'2.5" or so, I sometimes find an almost perfect dress...but inevitably it is intended for someone a few inches taller than me. And I don't sew and I don't want to pay a huge tailoring fee for an item before I've even used it!
Today the couple modest dresses I saw either wouldn't fit or were ugly. I don't know where the designers get some of their pattern designs. Some designs looked like scribble with a huge marker.
And my fault, but since I've gained too much weight recently, I've been stuck wearing the same few items.
Anyway. So today I didn't find a new dress. This post is just a mini vent! That's ok, bigger worries exist in life. I am lucky to have a washer/dryer so in just a bit I'll go put my well used outfit in the wash. I know once I lose weight I'll find all the modest dresses I desire...right??
